This project is a research into the relationship between text and image.
A photograph (landscape, nature) is understandable on an iconic level.
A typographic composition (“image or a message about an image”) can be seen as an literal image.
What happens if we interfere systematically in the structure of literal and iconic image? A special grid system allows to apply the same transformations (scaling, pixelation, grouping and intersecting) on both images. The grid is used as a coding system. It serves as a kind of language guiding or retracing the alterations. In a second step the resulting forms are overlaid, to create new compositions. By repeating this process and combining the images again and again, a certain rhythm becomes visible and shows the characteristics of word and image in visual manner.
